Brief History
In 2000, Greig Detering was called by God to leave his engineering profession of 18 years and dedicate his time solely to the Christian mission field, primarily outside the USA. The Lord sent Greig first to El Salvador and later to Argentina with the primary objective of unifying the body of Christ while ministering to the needs of the people. During one trip in El Salvador, Greig began working with the established missions organization, New Life League International.
In 2002, with the encouragement of like minded believers and supporters, a Board of Directors was organized and Amor (Love) Ministries International was officially established. It was decided that all funds donated to Amor Ministries International would be used directly to aid in the preaching of the Good News of the Kingdom of God through Jesus Christ.
In 2003, Robert Johnson became another member of our field ministry team. He previously had done work in Brazil and northern Europe. Several others have been added to our team, outside of our Elder board members, both inside and outside the USA. This allows all of us involved to be more effective in what God leads us to do. If you are praying for us or supporting us materially, God has put you as part of this team.
Through 2008, AMI has primarily been used as a prophetic or consultant ministry, helping to provide confirming direction, given by God, to help mold the church into the form the Lord desires. Much of the work of AMI has also been evangelistic. The field team has been led to minister in several countries in Latin America and Europe and it appears that we will be going to many other parts of the world. We simply wait for the Spirit of God to direct us and then go where the He says to go, when He says to go there, and do what He says to do.
